This one day conference was organized by the Onassis Foundation on Friday, March 28 from 10.00 to 18.00 at Kostis Palamas Building of the University of Athens. The event, which was part of the Athens Dialogues project, dealt with the concept of races in the past and today and focused on sports games, poetry, literature, music as well as modern marathons. All the issues were examined by distinct personalities of the academia and the arts from a diachronic and interdisciplinary perspective. Among the speakers were: Costas Georgousopoulos, Angeliki Kosmopoulou, Yannis Petropoulos, Eri Stavropoulos, John Zervas, Panos Valavanis, etc.

The conference was moderated by professor George Bampiniotis.

The scientific coordinator of the conference was Dr. Niki Tsironi, researcher and University of Harvard fellow.
